It's time for Spring cleaning! This month I have a few tips that will hopefully assist in starting your Spring season out on the right track. First, lets start with going through all make-up bags and drawers. Check the expiration dates on all foundations (liquids and creams). Begin by throwing out all expired items. Most people have a summer shade and a winter shade, if this is the case, store the shade that you're not wearing in the refrigerator until you’re ready to use it. Most powders last a bit longer than liquids, but if you use a puff as oppose to a powder brush be aware of oil build up in product. This build up may appear as darker areas throughout the powder. Discard any items that appear to be slightly darker in color than they originally were. This rule applies to any blushers and powder eye shadows in addition to pressed powders.
Brushes, be sure to clean your brushes at least once every two weeks. A mild shampoo for the hair is sufficient. Avoid using an antibacterial soap when cleansing brushes. Antibacterial soaps will only damage the fibers of the brushes. If you haven’t cleansed your brushes in a while you may want to discard them depending on there condition.
With regard to your cleansing regimen continue with your normal program of cleansing, toning ( if necessary), and moisturizing daily. Be sure that your moisturizer has an SPF 15 or higher and that it is broad spectrum. This is also a very good time of the year to incorporate some type of glycolic or chemical peel to provide a deeper exfoliation for the skin.
