Spring is here! Therefore, it's time to make changes to our daily skincare routine. Spring is a great time to reassess what you've been putting on your skin as well as internalizing, that could affect the overall appearance of your skin. In addition to topical and systemic care for the skin, it's a great time to replenish or replace makeup. Here are a few great tips that should that help you with your transition from winter and will carry you through summer.
Nutrition
What we internalize day to day is very important to the appearance of
our skin. Certain meats and vegetables provide nutrients that are very important in protecting the skin from free radicals and other skin conditions. Topical creams and serums are great for the day to day maintenance of the skin, but what most seem to forget is that what we take into our bodies, whether healthy or not, comes out through our skin. Therefore, more times than not it is quite beneficial to get the nourishment for the skin by means of intake, because there is a limit to how much the skin will absorb topically. Choose vegetables that are high in vitamins and nutrients, broccoli is a great example. Broccoli is a good source of vitamins A, K, and C. In addition, it provides folate and is loaded with chlorophyll. The source of vitamins that broccoli provides helps to fight free radicals which in turn help to prevent premature aging. The amount of chlorophyll in broccoli helps to reduce the binding of carcinogens and broccoli also contains phytochemicals, plant nutrients that are beneficial to health as well as anti-carcinogenic. Fatty acids and omega 3 which are found in fish are also great for the skin, as always remember to intake at least 64 ounces of water a day also! |

Skincare
Protect yourself from the sun -- use sunscreen and avoid direct sunlight between the hours of 10 and 2. Wash your face twice a day and put on the proper treatment product. A lot of things collect overnight -- dead skin cells, dirt, and dust! Dont neglect certain areas of the skin. Elbows, heels, neck, and décolleté need moisturizing too. Touch your face less and wash your hands more! Dont get too surgical on yourself. Its very tempting to pick, poke, squeeze, and scratch in front of the mirror. But the more you traumatize the skin, the greater your risk of scarring. Apply treatment products and let them work. More is not always better; exfoliants should be used in moderation! Only exfoliate once a week unless you are extremely oily, twice a week will suffice with a gentle exfoliant.
Makeup
Keep your makeup clean. Replace the sponges in your compact on a regular basis. Spring is a great time to toss the whole works and start fresh. Let's not be wasteful, but if you're nearing the end of your product this is a good time to replenish. Dont buy products so expensive that youll be heartbroken if you have to throw them away. Less is always more! Keep your makeup light. To achieve a little more dramatic look at night just go heavier with your eye makeup. Also, incorporate a bronzer to give that great sun kissed look!
