Summer is officially here, and everyone wants to look their best, but not feel as though they're wearing heavy moisturizers or makeup. So I'm going to give a few tips on how to get great summer looks that are quick, easy, and will leave you feeling great. As always getting adequate rest and nutrition as well as protecting yourself from stress -- both emotional and environmental are always important.
First, always start with a sheer moisturizer that has an SPF 15 or higher. This will provide the sun protection that is so important, but will not leave your skin feeling excessively oily. Sun protection is classified as either physical or chemical. Physical sun screens actually absorb light and chemical sunscreens reflect the light, both are beneficial as long as they are providing protection from UVA/UVB rays. Tinted moisturizers are a great option simply because they have the sun protection that is needed yet add color to the skin so that traditional foundations can be bypassed. Another option that can be used in replacement to a foundation is a bronzer. Powder or cream bronzers can be a great look for summer because they give a nice sun kissed look.
Keep your makeup clean. Replace the sponges in your compact on a regular basis. Now and then, toss the whole works and start fresh. Don't buy products so expensive that you'll be heartbroken if you have to throw them away. Adding a highlighter around the eye area will help alleviate darkness that sometimes appears in this area. Finally, complete your look with mascara and lip gloss. Mascara will give the eyes more depth and lip gloss will add slight color and lots of sheen. Less is more! Keep your makeup light. To achieve a little more dramatic look at night just go heavier with your eye makeup and incorporate a cream blush that compliments your skin tone.
